This is a small feature that ends up mattering a lot. Mechro lets you set independent volumes for your keyboard sounds, your mouse clicks, and a master output. If your mouse clicks feel too loud relative to your typing, you can fix that in two seconds.

Curated soundpacks

Mechro ships with a growing library covering the most popular mechanical switches - Cherry MX Blue, Red, and Brown, Gateron Yellow, Holy Panda, Topre, and more - plus themed packs like typewriter, retro, ASMR, and gaming. Each pack is tuned by hand rather than dumped in from a random sample.

You can switch packs instantly from the app, and your choice is remembered between sessions.

Security and peace of mind

Search "MechVibes virus" or "is MechVibes safe" and you'll find a long trail of forum threads from people worried about what they just installed. Some of this is unfair - MechVibes itself is open-source - but the perception stuck, and the community response has been messy.

Mechro ships as a single installer with no bundled third-party code, no telemetry, and no background network activity. You install it, it plays sounds, and that's it. If you'd rather verify than trust, the Discord is open and you can ask directly.

About Electron

Let's be upfront: Mechro is built on Electron, the same framework behind MechVibes, Discord, Slack, and VS Code. It would be easy to pretend otherwise, but anyone who opens Task Manager would catch it in five seconds, and we'd rather you hear it from us.

What matters isn't the framework - it's what you do with it. Mechro is stripped down to the parts it actually needs: audio buffers are pre-loaded so there's no delay on a keystroke, the app runs from the system tray without a visible window, and there's no updater pinging a server in the background. Open Task Manager next to MechVibes if you want to see the difference for yourself - and if it doesn't hold up on your machine, tell us in the Discord and we'll look at it.

Actively developed

MechVibes has slowed down significantly. Its community fork (MechvibesDX) exists precisely because the original wasn't keeping up. MechaKeys is a side project on top of a larger platform, so updates depend on priorities elsewhere.

Mechro is under active development. Features ship regularly, the changelog is public, and the Discord is where requests actually get read.
