Step 1: Download the installer

Go to mechro.win/download and click the download button. You'll get a file called MechroSetup.exe, around 97 MB in size. Save it anywhere - Desktop and Downloads both work fine.

Step 2: Run the setup

Double-click MechroSetup.exe. Windows will probably show a blue popup that says "Windows protected your PC." This is standard for any app that isn't signed by a major corporation, and it appears for most small software too.

Click More info, then click Run anyway. The installer will launch.

Step 3: Follow the installer

The installer will ask where you want Mechro to live. The default location is fine - it puts Mechro in your user folder. Click through the prompts and let it finish. It usually takes under 20 seconds.

Step 4: First launch

When the installer finishes, Mechro will open automatically. If it doesn't, launch it from the Start menu. You'll see the main window with the tabs for Home, Keyboard, and Mouse.

Mechro starts running right away. Try typing a few keys or clicking your mouse - you should hear the default soundpack play.

Step 5: Pick your soundpack

Open the Keyboard tab and choose a pack from the dropdown. Start with Cherry MX Brown if you're not sure - it's a good middle ground that isn't too loud or too soft. Once you have a feel for it, try Cherry MX Blue for a sharper click or Gateron Yellow for something smoother.

The Mouse tab works the same way. Pick a click sound that matches the vibe of your keyboard pack.

Step 6: Adjust the volume

Each tab has its own volume slider, and the header has a master volume that scales everything. If you share a room with someone or you're in a call, drop the master volume to something subtle. You can always raise it later.

Step 7: Let it run in the background

Mechro stays running until you close it. You can minimize it to the system tray and forget about it - it'll keep playing sounds across every application on your PC. If you want to turn it off temporarily, use the toggle on the Keyboard or Mouse tab.

Troubleshooting

No sounds on first launch? Check that your master volume isn't at zero and that Mechro isn't muted in the Windows volume mixer. Both are common.

Antivirus flagging the installer? Some antivirus tools flag any unsigned installer. If your tool does this, whitelist MechroSetup.exe or disable real-time protection during install, then re-enable it. The installer itself does nothing suspicious - you can verify in the Discord if you want a second opinion.

Sounds feel laggy? Close other audio apps temporarily to make sure nothing else is holding the audio device. If it persists, tell us in the Discord with your system specs.

That's the whole setup. From here, the only thing left is to try different soundpacks until you find the ones that feel right.
